Challenge Accepted: IA for Good
The theme for World IA Day 2018 is “IA for good”. We’ve been challenged to think of how might we use information architecture (IA) to protect human civilization from misinformation.
Our goal is to create a website that teaches individuals:
- How to validate the credibility of information sources
- How they can teach others to validate, and
- How they can speak up when finding sources that aren’t credible.
At the event, we’ll be working in small groups to go through IA activities to create the skeletal structure for the site. We’ll be working on personas, content inventory, card sorting, and page layouts. We’ll also go over how you can take these activities and refine them into deliverables.
Afterwards, if you’re interested in carrying this project to reality, we’ll be forming a small action team to create the site and content based on work from this event. We are aiming to have this project finished by March 11 (2 weeks from WIAD). We’ll coordinate a Doodle poll to see when we can meet.
Who should attend?
This event is great for all levels of experience. Whether you’re new to IA or seasoned, it’s a great opportunity to work with others in the UX community and do something for good at the same time. If you’re new to the UX field or looking to enhance your portfolio, this is a great event to get some hands-on experience with real deliverables. We’d love everyone to join us in celebrating information architecture!
