Welcome to World IA Day Los Angeles 2021!
This year's theme: Curiosity
As information architects, we develop strategies to understand what we are trying to structure. By giving information structure, we learn to understand. We do this to encourage others to explore and understand. By being curious, we recognize our own and others’ discovery strategies.
Learn. Share. Grow.
This year, we will be having both a workshop (hosted before the main event) and the main World IA Day Los Angeles virtual event. The main event will consist of several presentations from the information architecture community and beyond. We hope you will attend our event, and in-turn, enhance the way you think about information architecture.

The Synthesis Sprint: Turning Research into Principles
Raleigh Tomlinson
Yes, we all know that we need user research. But once research is completed, a blank canvas still sits in front of you. How do we, as designers, let that research drive our product decisions? Today I’m going to talk with you about that transition.
There is magic that happens when you build an understanding of the user in a team. I hear voices around me that carry the weight of your users. You, as the researcher, remember, but how can you share that understanding with others?
Synthesizing research is the act of taking a breath to simply listen as a team. It’s a moment where you move all the priorities away. A moment to build a shared foundation. I’m going to share how synthesis workshops can lead to product opportunities as well as team empathy.
By the end of this talk, you’ll receive 5 free MIRO workshop templates to do with your team.
